The success or failure of a company
has several factors behind it. One of the big factors is people. The word
‘people’ here refers to the employees, the business partners, vendors,
suppliers and of course, the clients. Throughout the year, each of these types
of people put in a lot of effort, which contributes to the success of their
parent company. But the company or its executives do not always find an
opportunity to thank them for their efforts.
That is why corporates find a happy
way out of this – they give gifts to their employees, vendors, clients and
others during certain special occasions just to underline how much their effort
is appreciated.
Earlier corporate gifts used to be
purchased in bulk and one size was expected to fit all. But today it is common
to see the receiver’s name imprinted on the gift, to lend a touch of
personalization to the corporate gift. Also, festivals are usually considered a
good time to give corporate gifts. For example, Malaysia has the Chinese New
Year, or Deepavali, or Ramadan, or the Water festival, and depending on who is
the receiver, the timing for the corporate gift ideas could be
decided.
Each type of person is important to
the company in his own way. A loyal and efficient employee, a big client, a
resourceful business partner, an honest supplier, they all have their own
importance in the scheme of things, but the company needs to take a call based
on how much budget they can afford to spare for each type of gift. Also, the
gift needs to adhere to the social norms of the country, and also the business
guidelines of the company. There is a very thin line between a corporate gift
and a bribe, and the company needs to be sensitive to this while planning their
corporate gifts.
